A popular souvenir of the Black forest is the well-known cuckoo-clock. The cuckoo-clocks were not invented in the Black forest however, because already in 1629 such a clock was in the property of the elector August from Saxony. It is not known when the manufacturing of the cuckoo-clocks started in the Black forest. According to some sources, the clock production was started around 1730 in the town Schönwald, according to other sources, the manufacturing of the clocks began not until 1742 in Neukirch. The cuckoo-clocks can be purchased in the souvenir-shops at the nearby Titisee.
